Basically this is mirroring one of my older threads in here that is to full of images by now. Its a collection of stuff I have been up to as of recently, mostly unfinished, mixed, insights into my *gasp* messy desk and the stuff.
Tragedy Cat, prototypen for molding:
Little reader, another prototype
Hippogryph prototype
Cerberus Prototype
First casting series, basic colorations
So much for today, I am afraid my main focus has been on casts as of recently, but the originals are all made with polymer.
More to come soon hopefully

Ohhh! They are so great! I love the cat... and the bear... and the dog... oh, I just love them all!
I'd really love to learn how to make moulds and do casts, it seems like an interesting process. The place I get my supplies from is a casting supplies place and I'm very curious about the process... any chance in the world you'd be able to do a basic tute?

These are wonderful. I adore the cats, particularly the pale tiger striped one. Neat stuff!

They are impressive. Do you do all the casting yourself?

Thank you all Yes, I do the casting myself, but I havent settled yet for a process , right now I use a mix of matrix-molding and reverse molding, once I found one that suits me best I will post more pics in process. The process is quick and dirty, thus I dont really get to take pics.
I've reworked an old design from last year (running under the name "Brina"), the chocolate colorored one is the old one, the cream one the new edited version:

thank you all so much
you make me blush
I set up a provisoire version of my homepage on second server (will be moved to the real Akeyla.com soon). The idea was to use DA as a main carrier for the galleries, some day I will make a more professional version. For now I wanted my own layout that differenciates from others and yet keep it easy in the image section, where the main focus is Art.
here's the page.
Glad to hear typos/point outs and the jazz (I really cant see it anymore, i must say DA-folio is not easy to maneuvere with the mass of works):
cathuman.com/homepage/...epage.html
also, yes I have been scarse. The reason is, my man and I bought a house.
this is a major big thing and can be found here:
There will be an open day thing in March where I will participate (and open the house and give insights into my workspace and my works). Also, after all the years working in a fandom I decided to turn my own way and go back to classical fantasy, basically my own made up things.
Basically I will go back to my old Ebay Concept from 3 years ago.
I've made more art since the last post but .... I'll post it soon. At the Mo its mainly flat work.

Thanks all!
I'm not yet sure about flicker, I may try it some day, I'm a bit tentative about the big image collection sites still.
I've tried something new last night:
Its digital sculpting with Sculptris (freeware). Unfortunately this freeware has the problem of being slow the bigger the project gets. Meaning the humanoid form became a real slow moving-to-work with thing once I had more details done on the face and moved to the feet. I dont know what it will do if I start on the hands.
While the programm is easy to navigate and understand I say sculpting with it may be quicker due to the symetrie line, but its way harder than IRL.
I still loved doing it, its a whiff of the studio cinema air, even if still distant, and a very good experience.

One last one for now(unfinished and .. ahem... flawfull). Once you figured how the tools work its pretty much like real sculpting. With one big difference, simple things such as straight teeth are HORROR, while everything else works real fast because it as a symetrie duplicator. Meaning all the models are somewhere inbewteen of 2-5 hours.
Sculptris is a freeware and can be found here: www.sculptris.com/

Great!
I wonder... have you tried Blender? It's another free/open-source modelling program, but I don't hear any users having problems with it handling the size of the sprites...

Your sculpting is incredible. I have tried to make moulds but leave too many small areas where the latex gets in which then proves impossible to make a cast from. Would also love to see a tutorial at some point

Some updates:
remodeled the store window:
removed more sculptures and am now working on hightlighting the \"hatching surprise\" aspect.
Am now printing this on faux parchment:
I tell you it is so hard to exhibit in a way to appeal to an audience. Its even harder so with your own work. I've got my stuff in there now one month and I am still learning.
The colorful base blanket is a fauxpass, but since I cling to simple and cheaper options there is no way I will get a new one just yet. ( costs so far are lamps 20$, digital frame 150$, close/open sign 40$, that is fairly low for a store window). My most prefered setting would be fully natural, but thats no go in the mess and smell. Atleast the success rate is: 75% of the passer-by's stop and look . Since my store is just a window and my workdesk not far behind, people rarely come in. Which can be understood, I myself would not enter a store where someone is working in an atelier situation, bein exposed to discussion and stare. You will be surprised how many people hate to be confronted with the seller directly, with nothing to run, no shelf to hide etc. I have no chance to move into the back yet as we dont have light there yet, no shelves and no material yet.
so, while I am there I draw or sculpt, these are some of the pieces:
The egg with the crack is a mock-up sculpture, meaning its just a 5min clay blob and a glass eye stuck in it:
I added the WIP version to have people understand what I work with, I figured they dont quite understand the media yet. Where I come from they only know Fimo from KeyChains and Kiddo things. That is a serious burner on my things, but then again if the form appeals the media is forgotten. So, this is what I am doing these days, aside of the hard quest of looking for a teaching job.

Looking great Akeyla!
You're right - people are very shy creatures, aren't they! You know they want to look but they feel uncomfortable going in - I know I do sometimes, usually because I'm shy myself and I worry if I am intruding or if a place looks bare and that I am going to stand out by just waltzing in with my boots on and wandering about. I guess we still do think that entering a shop is like entering a house - it is easier if you are invited in, so maybe... leave the door open?

Your dragons have loads of character and are fantastic and so is your paintings and the fellow with the yellow eyes. Maybe if you have a couple of friend in your store and looking at your work when the other shops are busy it will feel more inviting
Best of luck with the preparation for the exhibit
The store front already looks fantastic and worthy of a brows

Akeyla, love the look of your gallery (the paintings are wonderful) and your store window! Your own store, how amazing is that!
Good luck, here's hoping for a lot of visitors and customers for you.

Thank you all!
sorry for being off a long time, I work 60% now teaching at a school.
In April I made this, a new sketchbook for me. Handmade from scrap. Handcolored paper, sewn and leather bound and decorated with polymer and moonstone, satin interior. Size of the paper is A4 (A3 bound), weight is somewhere around 3kg. Love it to bits.
sketches by me in the book:
